Aluminum (aluminum in American and Canadian English) is a chemical element that has an atomic symbol Al and atomic number 13. The strong affinity towards oxygen is the reason for aluminium’s frequent relationship with oxygen as oxides; for this reason the presence of aluminium in the Earth primarily in rocks in the crust, which is the third most abundant element after oxygen and silicon, rather than in the mantle. The discovery of aluminium was announced on 1825 Danish physicist Hans Christian Orsted. The first industrial production of aluminum was started by French chemist Henri Etienne Sainte-Claire Deville in 1856.
